The Law Firm of Angeles & Lugo Lovatón was founded in 2007, as a result of the merge of its partners legal offices: Zaida Lugo Lovatón & Jaime R. Angeles.

Both partners have held high level commissions for drafting several bills, that later became laws in the Dominican Republic: Implementation Law of the Free Trade Agreement with United Status and Central America (DR-CAFTA), Computer Crimes law, Ecommerce and Digital Signatures Law, Presidential rule on Copyright. Also the pending bills of Advertising Law and Movies Law have received the direct advice of Zaida Lugo Lovatón.
Order Market Code. In 1997-1998 Zaida Lugo Lovatón served as advisor to the Technical Secretary of the Executive Branch of the Dominican Government and Jaime Angeles was appointed by the President of the Dominican Republic as official member of the Commission that worked in the draft of the Order Market Code, that included proponed new rules for Antitrust, Unfair Competition, Industrial Property, Copyright and Consumer Protection. Actual Copyright and Industrial Property laws were approved by the National Congress from the work of that Commission. Also the works from that Commission gave the origin to the recent approved Antitrust legislation and Consumer Protection Law.
Angeles & Lugo Lovatón has a very important position in the area of intellectual property law, Ecommerce,Telecommunications, Advertising Law, where it has gained market recognition through its highly committed incursion in these areas of law and its participation in some of the most important associations in the field. Jaime Angeles is past president of the Dominican Association of Intellectual Property, Zaida Lugo is an actual Vicepresident. Mr. Angeles is also member of the Board of Directors of the International Technology Law Association (Itechlaw).
Also the corporate and litigation matters have very important presence in the Firm. Angeles & Lugo Lovatón has been engaged in litigation and arbitration on national and international matters including Distribution contracts, Administrative claims with the Dominican Government, Corporate litigation, Consumer Protection, Unfair Competition, all sort of intellectual property litigation.
